RENEWABLE ENERGY

Renewable energy is of course energy that is "renewed", ie, circulates and is converted in our ecological systems, such as hydropower, solar, wind, biomass, wave and geothermal energy.

The sun itself is not really renewable, as it will one day die out, but this is so far in the future that it is hardly relevant to humans. Fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are not renewable. These surely renew, but it takes a very long time, many millions of years. In addition, they are consumed today in a higher rate than they are renewed.

Renewable energy is a prerequisite for what is called sustainable development. Renewable energy is also often seen as advantageous from an environmental perspective, not least because they do not increase the greenhouse effect. Source: www.energikunskap.se
